What is the difference between a picture book, an early reader and an educational book?
A picture book carries the story mainly in its artwork and is read aloud to a child who is not reading yet. An early reader uses short, controlled sentences with supporting pictures so a child can get through it alone and build confidence. An educational book teaches a defined concept or skill, and covers activity books, STEM guides and concept based learning material. We publish all three.
What are the stages of publishing a children's book?
Five. Manuscript formatting prepares the story with publishing structure and layout. Illustration and book design produces and finalizes the artwork and page layouts. Typesetting and proofing sets text placement, fonts and page flow. Printing and production manufactures the book to the agreed specification. Publishing and distribution lists it across major platforms. Each stage is approved before the next one starts.
Are illustrations included in publishing, or arranged separately?
Illustration is one of the five publishing stages, so it can be handled inside the same project. Authors who already own finished artwork can bring it in, and the design work is built around what exists rather than starting over. Authors with nothing drawn yet go through our children's book illustration service first, and the finished art then flows straight into design, typesetting and print.
What makes a children's book manuscript work?
Children's books are built around the page turn. The manuscript is written to a fixed spread count, so every turn lands on a moment worth turning for. Word economy matters more than in any other format, because the illustrations carry what the words leave out. The text also has to survive being read aloud many times over. Most first drafts fail on structure, not on the idea, and that is the stage our writing service works on with you.
What size and binding should a children's book use?

Print on demand means physical copies are manufactured as they are ordered, so you are not sitting on stock, and an ebook edition can be listed alongside the printed one.
What pushes the cost of a children's book publishing project up or down?
Page count, the number of illustrated pages and the print specification move it most. Color throughout costs more than color on selected pages. Hardcover with special finishes costs more than a standard paperback. Bringing artwork you already own costs less than originating a full new set. The habit that adds most is changing the manuscript after typesetting has started, because every page then has to be reflowed.
How do I choose a children's book publishing company?
Ask to see finished children's titles rather than covers alone, so you can judge interior layout and print quality. Ask who owns the files at the end and exactly what you receive.
